Making
a good house is very much important for pigeon farming. Actually in pigeon
farming, the main importance should be given on the protection of pigeon from
their enemies. It is often seen that cats, dogs, and wild cats attack the
pigeon at night. Therefore, if a pigeon farmer is not concerned enough about
the housing of the pigeon farm, he/she may have to suffer a lot for that.
Types of Pigeon House:
Pigeon house may be made by several ways; several types of material may be used to make it. In most of the cases it is made of wood, but is some cases it may be made by metal sheet or metal string.

Size of a Pigeon House:
Size of a pigeon house or cage depends on two
things. Firstly, it depends on the size of pigeon which will be kept into the
house. And the second is which purpose the house/cage will be used. If the
farmer wants to use the house only for keeping the pigeons at night, he/she
needs relatively less space inside the room. But if he/she wants to keep
pigeons all day long into the cage, it need a little more space than the
previous one.
Now the question is what is the size of house for a pigeon?
In case
of a medium size pigeon couple, the standard size of night staying house is 14-16
inch length, 12-14 inch width, and 10-12 inch height. Here the pigeons are kept
open all day long, and they only use this house at night. But in case of pigeon
cage, where the pigeons are kept all day long as well as at night, the size is
20-22 inch long, 16-18 inch wide, and 14-16 inch high.
As it is said at the first of the page, the most
important thing of pigeon farming is to protect them from their enemies like
cats, dog, foxes, and several kinds of wild cats. Several attacks from these
types of hunter animals may even destroy a farm. Therefore it is very necessary
to make hard and strong house for pigeons to protect them from harmful beasts.
