Crocodile Farming

The largest aquatic tetrapod reptiles is crocodile. According the zoologists crocodile first appeared around 55 million years ago. Alligators and Caimans are the two major genus of crocodile. Crocodiles are often called alligator or gator in short form. This crocodiles or alligators are mainly found throughout the Asia, America, Australia and Africa. Most of the gators prefer to live in freshwater like rivers, lakes and wetlands, but some crocodile lives in brackish water. Most of the alligators depends on fish, mammals and reptiles for their food and some species of crocodiles are habitat to crustaceans and molascs.

Alligators

The word alligator, mostly used in Florida, is the English name of el lagarto, which comes from the Spanish word ‘lizard’. Alligators first appeared around 37 million years ago. Most of the species of alligator have been abolished. At present there are only two species of alligators . They are American alligator and Chinese alligator.

Caimans

Caimans are relatively the small crocodiles. Their size usually remain between 1 meter to 4 meter. For being small in size this Caiman crocodile cannot run more than a few meters. Caimans are the inhabitants of Central and South America.

Crocodile’s skin contains two different characteristics from two sides. From down side that means on gators’ bellies they have smooth skin. Whereas the upside skin is armored with large osteoderms.
