the ancient age, when communication system was too weak, homing pigeons were used to carry letters or other massages from
one place to another. In that time this was the main reason for pigeon rearing,
and mostly the rich and powerful people, like kings and others, had pigeons. The Pigeon is a wonderful bird, and white pigeon is the symbol of peace.
Breeds of Pigeons
There
are more than 700 breeds of pigeons. On the basis of their characteristics they
may be classified into some specific types. Such as –

is too much testy and full of protein. In the past wild pigeons were available
in forest and bird hunters used pigeon
traps to catch them. Besides meat supply pigeons increase the beauty of a
place. In many regions racing pigeons
are highly demandable. Wild pigeons can meet the demand for meat, but for the
other reasons pigeon farming is important.

Pigeon
farming is not so difficult job, anyone can do this. Pigeon is a very good pet
bird. They don’t like to leave their house. A pigeon farm needs an open place
for their moving. Pigeon house requires a very little space; normally for a
couple, a room with 12 x 12 x 10 inch dimension is quite enough. In a pigeon
farm a large number of houses are made and kept side by side, and also one over
another.
Life Cycle of Pigeons
Pigeon
generally survive 10-15 years. The female pigeon starts laying eggs at the age
of 5-6 month and continues this until death. A female pigeon generally lays
eggs 8-12 times a year and two eggs at a time. After 17-18 days a male and a
female baby comes out from the eggs, and they become couple in future. After a
few days (15-25) the new babies need new house to make their own family.
